ABOUT US
VolksWatch is your eye on Volkswagen in North America — count on us for the latest news, comprehensive road tests and top-notch photos on all models.
For many reasons, VolksWatch is not just another VW fan site.
We are not only enthusiasts of the brand — we are also professional automotive journalists and, thereby, enthusiasts of many makes and models. We strive for balance and fairness, and do not hesitate to point out when VW falls short.
We do feel, however, that many Volkswagen models offer incredible advantages over their competition — and, increasingly, VW's values of quality, safety and attention to detail are shared by North American motorists.
Many Volkswagen websites simply reprint press releases. VolksWatch never does. We always interpret them and dig deeper to give our readers the most relevant information. If we are not relevant and unique, we may as well not exist.
VolksWatch will soon boast the most comprehensive collection of VW road tests in North America. We cover the good, the bad and the ugly to fully inform readers, which is especially useful for when they plunk down their hard-earned money for a new vehicle. Just because Volkswagens are great, it doesn't mean they're great for everyone and every situation.
It's a great time to be watching Volkswagen in North America. The German automaker is finally giving this continent the attention it deserves. Signs of this include:
the latest Jetta was launched here before anywhere else in the world,
the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine was designed specially for this market,
the GTI has returned to its roots, once again providing a phenomenal bang for the buck,
and VW will offer an America-specific minivan in 2008.
There was a time when Volkswagen rarely got media coverage in North America. Then the New Beetle came along in 1998. And today its models are winning comparison tests in mainstream magazines. Much more excitement is around the bend.
VolksWatch is happy to be along for the ride — and we're happy you're joining us.
