Volkswagen's big luxury SUV, the Touareg, is expected to get an extreme makeover within the next two years.
As illustrated above, the Touareg's style will be brought in line with other new VWs — boasting chiseled lines, especially in the side panels, and an overall more fluid, more dynamic shape.
The most welcome update, in our eyes, will be the omission of the massive chrome grille.
An early engineering prototype — the Touareg's current body on top of next-generation mechanicals — was spotted undergoing testing this week (see photos below). It suggests a slightly stretched wheelbase, which likely means a slightly larger vehicle, perhaps to accommodate a third row of seats to keep up with the competition (BMW's X5 and Acura's MDX among them).
