GTI Racks Up Big Sales April 4, 2006  Now widely available, the new GTI racked up big sales in March. In the United States, 2,127 GTIs were sold — the model's best month in over 20 years. In Canada, combined GTI and Golf sales were 499, up 66.9 percent from March 2005. Thanks to its many fresh models, Volkswagen enjoyed soaring sales for the first quarter with an increase over last year of 24.1 percent in the USA and Canada. Worldwide the German automaker hit a new first-quarter sales record of 795,000 vehicles. VW's successful start to 2006 is unequivocal — and more excitement, such as the Eos convertible, is yet to come.
