VW Rabbit And Playboy Bunny Get Together
Aug. 10, 2006

The front and back covers of September's Playboy were shot simultaneously — the back ad shows VW's Rabbit logo, which mimics the Playboy bunny logo, on the center model.
Volkswagen's latest advertising has many people talking — and many men drooling.
The ad is on the back of September's Playboy. It was photographed at the same time as the front and shows the rear view of the cover models. The center model has the VW Rabbit logo on her lower back. At the top are the words, "The Volkswagen Rabbit. It's Back!"

The unique ad, a first for the magazine, brings together two similar, familiar icons — VW's Rabbit and Playboy's bunny.
The cover models are Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson, reality TV stars and girlfriends of Playboy boss Hugh Hefner. Their Girls Next Door show follows life in the Playboy Mansion.
Volkswagen and controversy are becoming good friends, thanks to new brand-innovation director Kerri Martin and marketing agency Crispin Porter And Bogusky. Recent TV commercials for the Jetta show people getting into actual accidents and walking away. Many media have given editorial to the jarring ads, including Matt Lauer who spoke for many minutes to The Today Show's national audience.
So, people are talking, men are drooling — but are motorists buying?
September's Playboy hit newsstands on Aug. 4.
